Rhine River Experience

September

Pros:

Cons:

Recommended: Yes

Absolutely a great experience. The history of each of the areas that we visited was incredible. The sights were breath taking as well as the architect of each of the cities.

Ama Lucia Rhine Cruise

October

Pros: Excellent service throughout the trip

Cons: On board nightly entertainment in lounge very limited. Musician/DJ was not engaging at all

Recommended: Yes

Overall very nice cruise however interrupted by lock workers strike which required bus trip to Basel on last cruise of trip. Also, brochures noted beautiful scenery and Rhine was much more industrial thru Germany than expected.

Delightful Rhine Cruise

May

Pros: Excellent guest service and coordination of daily excursions; Delectable food

Cons: Pillow option

Recommended: Yes

The French balcony cabin was well laid-out, the bed comfortable. The service was impeccable at every station (guest relations, dining service, cabin care, etc.). We loved having options for each day excursion that allow us to choose based on our interest and ability. The excursions were well coordinated. The local tour guides were very knowledgeable. The food was copious and tasty, and we liked having the option of sitting at larger tables when we felt outgoing, tables for 4 for connecting with another couple, or table for 2. Cruising quietly down the Moselle while sitting on the top deck was relaxing and offered great views. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather through-out the cruise.

All boat trips have limitations but this was about as good as it can be

April

Pros: Beautiful and thoughtfully laid out boat, a broad range of excursions, the staff was lovely and wanted to please

Cons: Never had enough free time at any of the places we stopped, mediocre food, some of the crew tried hard but were inexperienced

Recommended: Yes

We are not big cruisers but really enjoyed this trip. AMA works hard to get the details right and they did not disappoint. The ship was beautiful. While our stateroom was small, it was thoughtfully laid out with important details like plugs for both 110 and 220, outside space we couldn't use (the weather) but nicely done, a well appointed bathroom and shower with ample and fast hot water, etc. There was great internet throughout and the equipment for listening to tour guides was top notch (as were the tour guides themselves). We were pretty low maintenance but observed the staff bending over backwards to satisfy those that were not.
